The Filipino American Society of Architects and Engineers

The Filipino American Society of Architects and Engineers is offering TWO scholarship awards for the next schoolyear to students working towards a Bachelor of Sciene degree in one of the following fields:

INTERESTED APPLICANTS should have at least 25% Filipino parentage, a sophomore and a full-time undergraduate student in any of the following designated educational institutions:

  1. University of California (UCLA, UC Irvine, UC Riverside and UC San Diego
  2. California State University (Los Angeles, Northridge, Long Beach, Dominguez Hills, Fullerton, Pomona, San Bernardino and San Diego)
  3. University of Southern California
  4. DeVry University
  5. Woodbury University

2008-2009 Scholarship for Accounting Students

Competitive merit-based awards of up to $5,000 for outstanding accounting students who, in the opinion of the NCPACA Selection Committee, show significant potential to become Certified Public Accountants.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Thank you for expressing an interest in the NCPACA Scholarships for Accounting Students.  These scholarships are awarded by the NCPACA and funded by AICPA through the Minority Initiatives Committee.

NCPACA Scholarship will be awarded on July 4, 2009 for the 2008-2009 academic years.  All application materials must be received by the NCPACA by May 15, 2009.  The applicant is solely responsible for assuring that all application materials are received on time, and the NCPACA cannot be responsible for materials delayed or lost in the mail.

NCPACA Scholarship for Accounting Students is available only to full-time undergraduate and graduate students at regionally accredited institutions.  Awards are granted primarily based on merit (academic achievement); financial need is evaluated as a secondary criteria.

  1. A completed NCPACA Scholarship Application Form.
  2. Official Transcript indicating grades and cumulative GPA through Spring 2009.
  3. Signed Letter of Recommendation from a college professor on department stationery.
  4. Signed Letter from the Head of the Department of Accounting at the institution stating the applicant is majoring in accounting.
  5. Signed Personal Statement on the topic: “Why I chose to become a CPA and how it will enhance my career.”  Using the same format on the attached sheet, the personal statement must be typed and should not exceed 500 words.
  6. Successful candidates are required to attend the 23rd NCPACA Convention from July 2 to 5, 2009 in Oak Brook, IL.
  7. Complete Requirements must be received by May 15, 2009.  All application materials must be sent to:

Awarding

The NCPACA Scholarship will be awarded on July 4, 2009 (Saturday) for the 2008-2009 academic years during the 23rd NCPACA Annual Convention in Oak Brook, IL.

Payments

Awards are made for the academic year following application, and will be sent directly to the school for credit to the account of the student recipient.
